After attending a laughter yoga session with us, our friend Lisa conjured up these ill rhymes about laughter yoga. One day, perhaps, we'll make a music video to go with this...Thanks, Lis!
Rappin’ about Laughin’
July 2008
Laughter Yoga is sweeping many a nation.
What is it?
I know that you want an explanation!
It was developed by an Indian doctor in 1995
Who found that laughin’ aloud made him and his friends feel more alive.
Laughter Yoga is based on a fact that science has shown:
Your body can’t tell the difference between fake laughter and laughter that is home-grown.
Any type of laughter – whether fake or real –
Will bring physiological benefits, as you will feel.
More oxygen will be supplied to your body and brain
With this body-mind exercise – givin’ no pain but lots of gain.
By laughing with our body we initiate
Powerful positive changes to our mental and emotional states.
Combined with yoga, called pranayama,
It's so fun it makes ya kinda wanna
Laugh a little more and laugh a little more,
As you make eye contact with others and giggle galore.
But how do we do it? I mean – do we just fake laugh-a?
Yes, that’s how we start, but soon we make a guffaw.
We don’t need no comedy; ain’t no need for jokes.
Just look into the eyes of all the other laughin’ folks.
Though we may start out with a chuckle that we force,
Real laughter develops quickly as a matter of course.
Child-like playfulness and joy as a group we cultivate
As a dynamic community of laughter we rapidly create.
The reason that we’re laughin’ is we’re laughin’ for no reason.
We’re proving that any moment can turn into laughing season.
And we know we’re not along ‘cuz laughter yoga clubs can be found
In 55 countries; there are 5000 LYCs around.
I hope you’ll throw your skepticism right out the window
And step with me inside the Laughter Gazebo.
It’s off North Stockton Drive near St. James Place.
Join other gigglers as any worries you erase.
Warren G would implore to mount up each regulator,
But here I simply ask you to make your laughing greater.
Just meet in the Gazebo for the LYC.
Your mission is to come and laugh with me...
This is the time to build our laughing community.
Laughter yoga improves your mind, emotions and your body!
WORLD PEACE!
